Designed in 1930, the Barcelona Sofa extends the Barcelona Chair design language into a full seating form. Each cushion is composed of 72 leather squares cut from a single hide, hand-welted and tufted. The Sapele Mahogany platform and stainless steel legs provide structural support, while leather straps over rubber webbing support the cushions from below. It arrives fully assembled and bears the Knoll logo and Mies van der Rohe signature as a guarantee of authenticity.

Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1930)

One of the most influential architects of the 20th century, Mies van der Rohe pioneered the “less is more” philosophy that defined modern design. He taught at the Bauhaus and Illinois Institute of Technology and mentored Florence Knoll. His landmark works, including the Seagram Building and Farnsworth House, reshaped modern architecture.

Care Instructions

Leather cushions

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. For spot cleaning, use a lightly damp cloth with mild pH-neutral soap. Avoid alcohol or solvents.

Stainless steel legs

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately. Use mild soap for stubborn marks. Avoid abrasives.

Mahogany platform

Dust with a dry cloth. Avoid direct sunlight and do not place hot items on the surface.
