Everything you might ask before buying.
The table is 42¼" (107.3 cm) in diameter and 28¼" (71.8 cm) high — standard dining height. It comfortably seats 4 people. As a general rule, allow at least 24" of table edge per diner for comfortable place settings, and at least 36" clearance from the table edge to the nearest wall or obstacle for comfortable seating and movement.
The base is heavy moulded cast aluminium, hand-finished and coated in Rilsan® — a tough, abrasion-resistant polyamide finish. It is available in White, Matte Black, and Grey. Rilsan® is a high-performance industrial finish that provides exceptional durability for a dining environment. Contact our team to specify your base finish.
The top is available in laminate (White or Black), wood veneer (Light Oak, Rosewood, Light Walnut, Reff Dark Cherry, Espresso, Ebonized Walnut), marble (Arabescato Verdi Alpi, Calacatta, Portoro, Grey Carrara, Nero Marquina, Grigio Marquina — in satin-coated, polished-coated, or uncoated finishes), and granite (Black Andes). All tops have a beveled edge. Contact our team to discuss which top is right for your setting.
Coated marble has a transparent polyester surface applied over the stone — either gloss (polished) or matte (satin). This creates a non-porous surface that resists staining and is easier to maintain; however, the coating may develop its own patina over time. Uncoated marble (available on Calacatta and Grey Carrara) has a penetrating sealer that protects the stone while preserving its natural texture and appearance. It requires periodic sealer renewal. Both are beautiful; the choice comes down to maintenance preference. We recommend viewing stone samples in person — contact our team.
Because Saarinen spent five years making sure it didn't need more. The pedestal base is moulded cast aluminium — a heavy, structurally resolved single form that provides full stability without the four-legged undercarriage that Saarinen called "the slum of legs." The result is a table you can seat four people at without anyone navigating around a corner post.
