The Barcelona Stool was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 as a companion piece to the Barcelona Chair. It features the same polished chrome crisscross frame and hand-crafted upholstery approach, using 16 leather panels cut from a single hide. The KnollStudio logo and Mies van der Rohe signature are stamped into the base as a permanent mark of authenticity.

A leading figure in modern architecture, Mies van der Rohe defined the “less is more” philosophy. He taught at the Bauhaus and Illinois Institute of Technology and served as a mentor to Florence Knoll. His work, including the Seagram Building and Farnsworth House, transformed modern architecture worldwide.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. Spot clean with a lightly damp cloth and mild pH-neutral soap. Avoid solvents and alcohol-based cleaners.

Chrome frame

Wipe with a soft damp microfiber cloth and dry immediately. Use mild soap for stubborn marks. Avoid abrasives and harsh chemicals.
