The Womb Ottoman is the ideal companion to the Womb™ Chair — a moulded fiberglass shell covered in foam and fully upholstered, set on a tubular steel base with polished chrome or black finish, measuring 25.5"W × 20"D × 16"H. The 16" height matches the Womb Chair's seat height exactly, so when positioned directly in front of the chair the ottoman aligns flush as a continuous surface for legs and feet. It is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality certified, made by Knoll in the USA according to the original 1948 design specifications, and available in the full range of KnollTextiles and Spinneybeck Leathers to match or complement the chair. Weighing 13 lb, it can also be used as a low stool or accent seat independently of the Womb Chair.

The Womb Ottoman exists to complete the Womb Chair. Positioned directly in front of the chair, it transforms the seating experience into a fully reclined resting arrangement. Saarinen’s original shell design supports the body in a way a conventional lounge chair or sofa cannot — and the ottoman extends that logic naturally.

At only 13 lb, the ottoman is also highly practical as an independent object. It can function as an accent stool, additional seat, or movable footrest throughout a room. Upholstered in matching KnollTextiles or Spinneybeck Leather, it creates the resolved appearance intended by Saarinen.

Part of the original Womb Collection, the ottoman shares the same moulded fiberglass construction and sculptural logic as the chair itself. Produced continuously for decades, it remains one of the defining lounge accessories of modern design.

Care Instructions

Fabric upholstery

Blot spills immediately. Use a mild pH-neutral fabric cleaner with a soft cloth. Avoid saturation and direct sunlight.

Leather upholstery

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Use dedicated leather cleaner and condition periodically.

Fiberglass shell

If exposed, clean gently with a damp cloth and mild soap.

Steel base

Clean chrome or powder-coated surfaces with a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasives and solvent-based cleaners.

Glides

Inspect periodically and replace if worn.
