The Platner Stool is often the most adaptable piece in the collection — moved effortlessly between lounge groupings, reception spaces, and informal seating arrangements. Its circular footprint allows approach from any angle, while the low 400 mm height works naturally alongside lounge seating and sofas.

In clusters, the rod-wire structure becomes even more visually striking at close range. The sculptural geometry, combined with upholstery from KnollTextiles or Spinneybeck, gives the Stool an unusual ability to function equally as seating and as a visual object within a space.

The Stool formed part of the original Platner Collection, conceived as a complete family unified by the same structural logic and material language. Its uninterrupted production since 1966 reflects the enduring relevance of Platner’s approach to sculptural modernism.

Care Instructions

Polished Nickel base

Wipe regularly with a soft dry or slightly damp lint-free cloth. For marks, use a mild soap solution and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners.

Bronze base

Clean with a soft dry cloth. The Bronze finish naturally develops a subtle patina over time. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaning products.

Fabric upholstery

Vacuum or brush regularly. Blot spills immediately. Use upholstery cleaner appropriate for the selected textile and always test first.

Leather upholstery

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Condition periodically and avoid prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight.

Polished Nickel base

Протирайте мягкой сухой или слегка влажной безворсовой тканью. Для пятен допускается мягкий мыльный раствор. Избегайте абразивов и агрессивных чистящих средств.

Bronze base

Bronze постепенно приобретает естественную патину. Для ухода используйте мягкую сухую ткань. Не применяйте кислотные или абразивные средства.

Fabric upholstery

Регулярно очищайте пылесосом или мягкой щёткой. Пятна промакивайте сразу после появления. Используйте cleaner, подходящий для конкретной ткани.

Leather upholstery

Протирайте сухой или слегка влажной тканью. Периодически используйте leather conditioner. Избегайте прямого солнца и источников тепла.

It also works well as a standalone accent piece, grouped in multiples, or in hospitality and bar settings where a compact, visually distinctive seat is required.

Yes — 400 mm is within the standard lounge seating range and is comfortable for informal, relatively short-duration seating. It is not intended as a primary or long-duration seat but as a flexible secondary piece. For longer periods of seated use, see the Platner Lounge Chair or Arm Chair.
