The round format naturally supports informal gathering — every seat around the table has an equal relationship to every other seat, making it well suited to small huddle rooms or one-on-one meeting spaces.

At 54" the table seats comfortably for four around a genuinely round surface — a distinct alternative to Florence Knoll's rectangular and oval dining tables for spaces that call for a circular plan.

The compact circular footprint suits a reading corner or an occasional workspace as easily as a primary desk — the same executive-quality material and construction standard applies regardless of how the piece is used.

The round format completes the geometric range Florence Knoll established across her Table Desk family — square-footprint round tops and rectangular-footprint oval tops, both resolved on the same four-star pedestal base she and the Knoll Development Group refined to the fraction of an inch. At 54" in diameter, the Round Table Desk occupies a genuinely square footprint on the floor (roughly 54" x 54"), which makes its spatial planning particularly straightforward compared to the oval or rectangular formats — a useful property in smaller or irregularly shaped rooms. The base, a single central chrome post dividing into a four-legged support, is engineered with the same heavy gauge welded steel and polished chrome finish used throughout the Table Desk and Executive Desk families, so a Round Table Desk placed alongside an Oval Table Desk or a Florence Knoll Dining Table introduces no visual inconsistency. Florence Knoll never distinguished sharply between the office and the home in her own design thinking — she treated both as architecture to be resolved with the same rigor — and the Round Table Desk moves as easily between a compact private office and a round dining table as any piece in her collection.

Florence Knoll Bassett (1917–2019) was a pioneering American architect and interior designer who revolutionized modern corporate office design. Studying under master modernist architects including Mies van der Rohe and Eliel Saarinen, she applied structural clarity and architectural rigor to interior spaces through the influential Knoll Planning Unit. Her meticulously proportioned furniture pieces have become iconic, definitive pillars of mid-century modernism.

Care Instructions

Laminate Tops: Clean regularly with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Wipe dry with a clean cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Wood Veneer Tops: Dust frequently with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe spills immediately. Clean occasionally with a cloth dampened with a mild wood cleaner, following the direction of the grain, then dry completely.

Marble Tops (Coated): Wipe clean using a damp cloth or a mild soap-and-water solution. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. Do not use acidic or abrasive chemical solvents, as they can degrade the protective polyester coating.

Polished Chrome Base: Clean with a soft cloth damp with water or a mild glass cleaner. Buff with a dry microfiber cloth to restore luster. Avoid harsh chemicals or metal polishes that can scratch the plated finish.
