At 47¼" square, the Large size in this family is the most substantial table Florence Knoll's occasional-table language offers, matched in scale to the largest sofas and sectionals in a contemporary living room. Every material decision on the table traces back to the rational design approach Florence Knoll learned from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: a welded steel frame reduced to its structural minimum, topped with whichever material — glass or solid marble — best resolves against the room it sits in. The KnollStudio logo and Florence Knoll's own signature remain stamped into the frame, exactly as on the original, taller Square Coffee Table this design descends from.

Florence Knoll Bassett (1917–2019) was a pioneering American architect and interior designer who revolutionized modern corporate office design. Studying under master modernist architects including Mies van der Rohe and Eliel Saarinen, she applied structural clarity and architectural rigor to interior spaces through the influential Knoll Planning Unit. Her meticulously proportioned furniture pieces have become iconic, definitive pillars of mid-century modernism.

Care Instructions

Glass Top (if specified): Clean with a standard glass cleaner and a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, which can scratch the polished surface.

Marble Top (if specified, coated): Wipe with a clean, slightly damp soft cloth. A mild soap solution is safe for marks — dry immediately and completely. Do not use acid-based cleaners (such as vinegar or citrus), which will damage the protective coating. Do not use marble tops outdoors. The coating may yellow slightly over time, giving the marble a warmer tone — this is an inherent characteristic, not a structural defect.

Polished Chrome Base: Wipe with a clean, slightly damp soft cloth for routine cleaning. A mild soap solution on a soft cloth is safe for marks — dry immediately. Do not leave standing moisture on chrome. Do not use abrasive pads, scouring products, or solvent-based cleaners.

Для удаления стойких следов используйте мягкую ткань с нейтральным мыльным раствором, после чего сразу протрите насухо. Не допускайте застаивания влаги на хромированных деталях. Категорически запрещено использовать жесткие губки, чистящие порошки и растворители.
