Florence Knoll designed her lounge collection because, as she put it, "I needed the piece of furniture for a job and it wasn't there." The Florence Knoll Sofa, Two Seater is the mid-scale expression of that design: a settee — two seats — in the same streamlined, architectural language as the three- seater and the lounge chair, built on an exposed heavy-gauge tubular steel frame in polished chrome with a solid wood inner frame and No-Sag spring seat suspension.

The Two Seater resolves a spatial problem that the Three Seater cannot always solve. At 62.5" wide it seats two adults in full comfort — its 32.25" depth, 17.5" seat height, cushion construction, chrome frame, tufted grid, welted seams, and button details remain identical to the Three Seater. The distinction is a spatial decision, not a quality decision. Trained by modern masters Mies van der Rohe and Eliel Saarinen, Florence Knoll successfully translated the principles of the International Style into interior furniture design. The standard Two Seater (this listing) has welted tufted foam cushions at 32.25"D. The Relaxed Two Seater (listed separately) is nearly 3" deeper at 35"D, with fiberfill-enhanced cushions and unwelted seams. The Relaxed version is softer and more deeply seated; the standard version is more tailored.
