When Florence Knoll reconceived the private office — replacing the imposing diagonal executive desk with a clean table parallel to the wall, in the spirit of the Mies van der Rohe architecture she studied — she needed somewhere for all the filing that the old desk had absorbed. The low credenza was her answer. The Florence Knoll Credenza, 2 Position is the smaller of her two standard configurations: two internal sections, each offering an adjustable shelf, a file drawer, or a combination of the two, behind door and drawer fronts finished in the same wood veneer or lacquer as the body, with polished aluminum pulls and magnetic door closures.

The 2 Position Credenza carries the exact architectural logic of Florence Knoll's revolutionary 4 Position original—a concept that reorganized the executive office by transferring clutter out of the desk into a low, disciplined backdrop object. At 37.5" wide, it measures exactly half the length of its larger counterpart, retaining identical depth, height, and hardware signatures. This smaller footprint is easily absorbed into residential layouts; as a dining credenza, it coordinates beautifully without overwhelming walls. Built-in, covered ventilation access beneath both storage sections enables flawless, hidden integration for contemporary power blocks and media components.

DESIGNERFlorence Knoll (1917–2019)
A student of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Florence Knoll translated structural architectural purity into interior furniture systems. Her legendary Knoll Planning Unit replaced traditional, bulky corporate executive desks with low-slung credenzas and elegant table desks, establishing the framework of modern post-war offices. Awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2002, her storage units remain timeless models of proportional precision. Knoll is a member of the MillerKnoll collective.

Care & Maintenance

Steel Base (Polished/Satin Chrome): Wipe routinely with a clean, soft, damp cloth. Stubborn grease or smudges can be removed with a mild dish soap solution—wipe dry immediately. Never use abrasive scouring pads or solvent-heavy liquids, as they can cause irreversible breakdown of the chrome layer.

Veneer Body & Fronts (Polyurethane Shield): Clean with a slightly damp cloth and wipe along the wood grain pattern. Avoid resting extremely hot, wet, or unbacked items directly on veneer. For complete finish assessment or restoration, consult our Almaty specialists.

Coated vs. Natural Marble Tops: Coated marble includes a protective polyester shell; wipe down with mild soap but avoid acidic components (citrus, vinegar) which compromise the shell. Natural marble remains beautifully porous; clean instantly following spills and utilize only specialty natural stone solutions.

Двухсекционная комод-креденца подчинена той же тектонической логике, что и полноразмерный четырехсекционный оригинал. Флоренс Нолл полностью переосмыслила интерьер кабинета топ-менеджера, разделив рабочий стол и системы хранения: она убрала массивные тумбы из-под стола, перенеся их в низкий, геометрически строгий объект у стены. При ширине 95.3 см эта модель ровно в два раза компактнее 4-секционной версии (190 см), но обладает той же глубиной, высотой и фурнитурой. Скромные габариты позволяют ей легко адаптироваться к жилым пространствам, не доминируя в комнате. Наличие технических лючков на дне превращает её в идеальную мультимедийную AV-консоль со скрытой проводкой.

О ДИЗАЙНЕРЕФлоренс Нолл (1917–2019)
Будучи ученицей Людвига Мис ван дер Роэ, Флоренс Нолл перенесла принципы структурной чистоты и строгости пропорций из архитектуры небоскребов в мебельный дизайн. Проекты её инновационного бюро Knoll Planning Unit заложили каноны эргономики офисов второй половины XX века. В 2002 году она была удостоена Национальной медали США в области искусств. Инструкции по уходу

Хромированное стальное основание: Регулярно протирайте мягкой слегка влажной салфеткой. Для удаления следов пальцев используйте мыльный раствор, после чего сразу вытирайте металл насухо. Мраморные столешницы: Вариант с покрытием защищен полиэфирным слоем (допускает мыльный раствор, но боится кислот вроде лимона или уксуса). Натуральный необработанный мрамор порист и мгновенно впитывает жидкости — пролитый кофе или вино необходимо удалять сиюминутно, используя только деликатные PH-нейтральные средства для камня.

The 2 Position is exactly half the width of the 4 Position (37.5"W vs 74.75"W). Height (25.5"H), depth (18"D), and top thickness (3/4") are identical. The 2 Position has two internal sections; the 4 Position has four. All other construction details, top options, base finish options, and locking options are the same. The 2 Position is the choice for smaller wall spaces, single-filing needs, or residential/hospitality applications where a full 74.75" run is too wide.

Each of the two positions can be configured independently as a storage cabinet with adjustable shelf, box drawers with removable partitions, or full-extension file drawers with hanging-file bars. Contact our team to discuss the combination that best suits your use — office, dining, or residential.
