The Relaxed Bench family exists to answer a question the original 1954 Bench never had to: what does this same architectural vocabulary look like at a lower, more casual register? The Two Seat takes the exposed heavy gauge steel frame — finished in polished or satin chrome, with no ornamentation beyond what the structure requires — and lowers its horizon from the original Bench's 16¾"H to a slightly more relaxed 16½"H, while replacing the individually sewn squares of the original with a single tufted cushion covered in polyester fiberfill for a softer, more forgiving sit. At 37¾"W, the Two Seat sits at the smaller end of a six-piece family that spans from a single-person Stool up through a 56¾" Large Square bench — every size sharing the identical frame material, finish, and construction logic, so pieces from across the family combine without any visual inconsistency. Florence Knoll's signature and the KnollStudio logo remain stamped into the base frame of every size, exactly as on the original Bench this collection updates.

Florence Knoll Bassett (1917–2019) was a pioneering American architect and interior designer who revolutionized modern corporate office design. Studying under master modernist architects including Mies van der Rohe and Eliel Saarinen, she applied structural clarity and architectural rigor to interior spaces through the influential Knoll Planning Unit. Her meticulously proportioned furniture pieces have become iconic, definitive pillars of mid-century modernism.

Care Instructions

Upholstered Seat (Fabric): Brush or vacuum periodically to remove dust. For marks, use a fabric-appropriate cleaner — test in an inconspicuous area first. Do not over-wet the upholstery; blot rather than rub. Follow the care instructions specific to the specified KnollTextiles fabric. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which will fade fabric upholstery over time.

Upholstered Seat (Leather): Wipe with a dry or very lightly damp soft cloth for routine cleaning. Use a dedicated leather cleaner for marks — apply gently, do not rub aggressively. Condition the leather periodically with a suitable leather conditioner. Do not use household detergents, alcohol-based products, or solvents. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which will dry and fade leather over time.

Exposed Steel Frame (Polished or Satin Chrome): Wipe with a clean, slightly damp soft cloth for routine cleaning. Mild soap solution on a soft cloth is safe for marks — dry immediately. Do not leave standing moisture on chrome. Do not use abrasive pads, scouring products, or solvent-based cleaners.

При ширине 37¾" двухместный вариант представляет собой компактную модель в линейке из шести предметов — от лаконичного пуфа до большой квадратной банкетки шириной 56¾". Все элементы коллекции делят общие материалы каркаса, отделку и конструктивную логику, благодаря чему изделия легко комбинируются в пространстве.
