The Mini Desk exists because a full-size version of every Florence Knoll table already did — and Florence Knoll's own approach to design was never about inventing new forms so much as finding the right scale for an existing architectural idea. The base construction here is identical in material and finish to her 78" and 94" dining tables: solid steel bar legs, horizontal tube rails, and precision steel connectors, all in polished chrome. What changes is only the footprint, brought down to 48" x 26" so the same design logic fits an apartment, a small home office, or an entryway instead of a formal dining room. Florence Knoll referred to her line of desks as the "meat and potatoes" of a design project — necessary pieces that simply hadn't existed yet when she needed them for a job. The Mini Desk, introduced from the Knoll archive to mark her 100th birthday, continues that practical instinct into spaces the original 1961 collection never directly addressed: today's smaller homes and hybrid workspaces. The KnollStudio logo and Florence Knoll's own signature remain stamped into the base, exactly as on every full-size table in the collection.

Care Instructions

Marble top (coated): Wipe with a clean, slightly damp soft cloth. A mild soap solution is safe for marks — dry immediately and completely. Do not use acid-based cleaners (vinegar, citrus, or similar), which will damage the transparent polyester coating. Do not place the desk outdoors. Note that the coating may yellow slightly over time, giving the marble a warmer tone; this is an inherent characteristic of the coating, not a product defect.

Glass top (if specified): Clean with a standard glass cleaner and a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive pads.

Polished chrome base: Wipe with a clean, slightly damp soft cloth for routine cleaning. Mild soap solution on a soft cloth is safe for marks — dry immediately. Do not leave standing moisture on chrome. Do not use abrasive pads, scouring products, or solvent-based cleaners.
